About a fifth of Perth Amboy is water. Of its roughly six square miles, 1.30 is the Raritan River, the Arthur Kill and the bay, and the city’s shape follows that shoreline: Harbortown by the water, Smith Street and Five Corners downtown, and the Hall Avenue, State Street, Maurer and Chickentown sections inland, with Washington Park as the city’s largest park.
It is a very old place. East Jersey named it capital in 1686, and the Proprietary House and Kearny Cottage are still standing. Today it is also the way into and out of the region for a lot of traffic: Routes 35, 184 and 440 run through it, the Victory Bridge carries Route 35 over the Raritan, the Outerbridge Crossing, opened in 1928, runs to Staten Island, and Perth Amboy station is on NJ Transit’s North Jersey Coast Line. It borders Woodbridge by land and Sayreville across the river, and faces South Amboy across the bay. The Perth Amboy Public Library, a Carnegie building opened in 1903, and the Raritan Yacht Club are two more fixed points that residents and visitors know the city by.
The 2020 census counted 55,436 residents, and about 83 percent identified as Hispanic or Latino. For a service business that is the main fact about the market. A large share of customers search in Spanish, or switch between the two languages, and the words are not simple translations: a search for a plomero or a techador is a different search from “plumber” or “roofer”, and an English-only site does not appear for it.
As of October 2026 the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs lists about 75 active home improvement and electrical contractor licenses with a Perth Amboy mailing address. That is a moderate pool, and some of those businesses are bilingual in practice but not on their websites, which is where a properly built Spanish page can set one apart. A business that works the waterfront sections and one that works Hall Avenue and State Street may want separate pages, and the request form can ask which language a customer prefers. We would want you to tell us what you actually see on the job before building pages around an assumption.
We build Perth Amboy sites with real Spanish pages where they fit the business, written for how people here ask, not a translate button. KMC Spark builds the site, local pages and request form for service businesses covering Perth Amboy and nearby towns, and it starts with a free consultation. Tell us which languages your customers use and where you work.
