Getting found in Middlesex, NJ.

Middlesex borough was cut out of Piscataway on April 9, 1913, with a referendum following on May 6, and it was named after Middlesex, England. A borough sharing a name with the county around it is a search problem in itself, but there is a second one that gets less attention: four of the borough’s six neighbors are in Somerset County.

Those neighbors are Bound Brook, Bridgewater Township, Green Brook Township and South Bound Brook, along with Dunellen and Piscataway on the Middlesex County side. A contractor based on Route 28, the borough’s main highway, which connects to Interstate 287 with U.S. Route 22 just to the north, may spend as much time across the Somerset line as inside Middlesex County. The borough covers 3.51 square miles and counted 14,636 residents in the 2020 census.

Local detail is easy to find once you look: Victor Crowell Park, known as the Duck Pond, plus Mountain View Park and Lincoln Park; the Lincoln and Beechwood Heights sections; and six public schools running from Hazelwood Elementary to Von E. Mauger Middle School and Middlesex High School. There is no active rail station today, so the roads and NJ Transit bus routes 114, 65 and 66 are how people get around. Our Lady of Mt. Virgin School, the borough’s first parochial school, opened in 1954.

As of October 2026 the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs lists about 55 active home improvement and electrical contractor licenses with a Middlesex mailing address. That is a modest pool, and the name itself can blur results for any of them: a search for Middlesex NJ may return county offices or businesses elsewhere in the county. A site and Google Business Profile that spell out the borough, and the towns around it, remove most of that doubt.

KMC Spark builds the site, the local pages and the request form for service businesses covering Middlesex and its neighbors, in both counties, and we start with a free consultation. Bring the list of towns you work in and we will say plainly what would help most.

Questions, answered straight.

Does sharing a name with the county really affect search results?

+

It can. Search engines have to work out whether Middlesex means the borough or the whole county, and clear, consistent address details on your site and business profile are how you remove that doubt.

Should a Middlesex business also list Bound Brook and Bridgewater?

+

If you take jobs there, yes. Those towns are in Somerset County, and customers there search with their own town names. We build a page for each area you cover and leave out the ones you do not.

Is Middlesex the same as Middlesex County for search?

+

No, and the overlap is a common mix-up: the borough is one of the county’s towns, not the county itself. Keeping the borough name, address and Google Business Profile consistent helps search engines and customers tell them apart.

Is a borough this small worth a full website build?

+

Often yes. A small, fast site with accurate local details tends to outperform a larger generic one, though most Middlesex businesses also serve neighboring towns and the site should say so.
