Washington Rock State Park, about 34 acres on top of Watchung Mountain, was established in 1913 to commemorate observations Washington and Lafayette made from the ridge in 1777. The township below it is a much quieter place: 4.42 square miles and about 7,300 residents in the 2020 census.
U.S. Route 22 is the main road, with County Routes 527 and 529 crossing the rest. Two unincorporated places, Seeley Mills and Washington Rock, share the township with its neighborhoods. Green Brook’s own schools run from pre-K through eighth grade, then students go on to Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, which is one small way that the township is tied to its neighbors. Those neighbors are Bridgewater, North Plainfield, Warren and Watchung in Somerset County, Middlesex and Dunellen across the line in Middlesex County, and Plainfield in Union County.
As of October 2026 the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs lists about 20 active home improvement and electrical contractor licenses with a Green Brook mailing address. That is a very small pool, and it is a reminder that most of the people who work in Green Brook live somewhere else. The township borders three counties, so a plumber from Dunellen, a roofer from North Plainfield and an electrician from Bridgewater can all be on a Green Brook job in the same week.
For a business actually based here, the opening is clear. There are few local listings to compete with, and a site that states plainly that it works in Green Brook, with the neighbors named, has less to push past than it would in a large township. For a business based elsewhere, a Green Brook page is a way to show the town is on the route, not an afterthought on a long list. A page that mentions Bridgewater, Watchung or North Plainfield next to Green Brook helps match the places a customer might also search, as long as the business really works there.
KMC Spark builds the site, local pages and request form for service businesses covering Green Brook and the towns around it, and we start with a free consultation. Bring the list of places you really work and we will tell you honestly what would help most.
