My Contractor Website Is Not Getting Calls: What to Check and Fix

If your contractor website is not getting calls, the cause is usually one of four things: people cannot easily call or ask for an estimate, the site is slow or hard to use on a phone, nobody can find it, or it does not give people a reason to trust you. Check those four in order, because the first ones are the cheapest to fix.

1. Can someone contact you in one tap?

  • Open your site on your phone. Is your phone number at the top, and does it call when you tap it?
  • Is there an estimate form with only a few fields? A long form loses people.
  • Does the page say what happens after they submit?

2. Is it fast and easy on a phone?

  • Does the page load in a few seconds on mobile data, not just on Wi-Fi?
  • Is the text readable without pinching, and are the buttons big enough to tap?

3. Can people find it?

  • Search for the service and your town, for example roofing in Edison. Do you show up on Google or on the map?
  • Do you have a page for each main service and each area you serve?
  • Is your Google Business Profile claimed, with the right phone number, hours and service area?

4. Does it earn trust?

  • Real photos of your jobs, with the town and the work done.
  • Your Google rating and a few reviews, close to the estimate button.
  • Your license or registration number. [NEEDS SOURCE: confirm the NJ display rule with the Division of Consumer Affairs before we state it as required.]

What if all four look fine?

Then check whether the calls are being missed or lost. A form that emails the wrong address, a phone number that goes to voicemail while you are on a roof, or leads that nobody follows up on all look like a site that does not work. Tracking where each lead comes from shows you which part is failing.

How we can help

Our free audit checks your current site for speed and mobile use, search basics, how well it turns visits into calls, local search, and whether AI assistants can find and understand your business. If you are on our Grow plan, each lead is also scored and emailed to you the moment it arrives, so a hot lead does not wait. Our plans are published and run month to month.

Frequently asked questions

How long before a fix shows up in my calls?

It depends on what was wrong. A broken phone button or a slow mobile page can help in days. Search and review changes build over weeks to months, so measure over time, not over a day. [NEEDS SOURCE: Mike to confirm whether we give a typical window.]

Do I need a whole new website?

Not always. Many sites just need the phone button, estimate form, service pages or speed fixed. A free audit tells you which.

Should I run ads while I fix the site?

Ads send people to your site, so a site that does not turn visits into calls wastes the spend. Fix the basics first.

How do I tell if the problem is traffic or the site?

If people visit but do not call or fill in the form, it is usually the site. If almost nobody visits, it is usually search and visibility. The audit looks at both.
